BJP eyes return to power in Haryana, Congress-NC set for clear win in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi/IBNS: In quite a contrasting picture from what was noticed in the morning, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to return to power for the third term in Haryana dashing the Congress' hope for a comeback.

As per the recent trends, the BJP is leading in 50 of 90 seats, Congress in 34, INLD 2 and Others in 4. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has failed to open its account.

The BJP made a strong comeback in the counting of votes on Tuesday as it seemed in the morning decks were clear for the Congress, which was leading in around 60 seats, to return to power.

Despite the trailing, Congress veteran Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was the frontrunner to become the Chief Minister, claimed, "Congress is going to form the government."

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress-National Conference alliance is set to wrest power as they are leading comfortably over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Out of 90 seats, the Congress-NC is leading in 52 seats, BJP in 26, People's Democratic Party or PDP in 4 and Others in 8.

This is the first time the Assembly poll was held in Jammu and Kashmir since the Indian government scrapped Article 370 in 2019.

Security has been heightened in the UT for the counting of votes.
