Bomb scare forces Air India Express flight emergency landing in UP's Ayodhya airport
Ayodhya (UP): An Air India Express flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Ayodhya airport in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday due to a bomb threat, according to the airport's Director, Vinod Kumar, media reports said.
The aircraft had taken off from Jaipur, Kumar confirmed to PTI.
A company spokesperson commented on the situation, stating, "Air India Express, along with a few other operators, received a specific security threat from an unverified social media handle. In response, security protocols were promptly activated as directed by the Government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee. The flight landed safely, and the aircraft will be released for operations following all mandated security procedures."
Commercial flight operations at Ayodhya's Maharishi Valmiki International Airport were launched earlier this year.
This incident follows a string of recent bomb threats involving flights.
Just days earlier, an Air India flight was diverted to New Delhi shortly after departing from Mumbai, and two IndiGo flights from Mumbai also received bomb threats on the same morning, according to ANI.
Flight 6E 56 was en route to Jeddah, while flight 6E 1275 was bound for Muscat.
