New Delhi/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition Mahayuti is all set for a sweep in Maharashtra, which went to assembly elections on November 20.

As per the trends, the Mahayuti [BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) and Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar)] is leading in over 200 out of 288 seats as opposed to around 60 of the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi.

If the figures hold, the Mahayuti will have a political comeback in Maharashtra where the ruling coalition suffered a jolt in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress alliance, which is aiming to return to power in consecutive terms, was locked in a close contest with the BJP-led coalition since morning but improved its lead over the saffron party later.

As per last update, JMM-Congress-led INDIA is leading in 51 seats while the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is ahead in 28 seats while Others 2.

Jharkhand has also seen several political turmoil with Chief Minister Hemant Soren going to jail over corruption charges.

The ruling JMM-led alliance is banking on its work in 5 years while the NDA is hopeful of getting people's support based on its promises and the Centre's credentials.

Prominent candidates include Chief Minister Hemant Soren, wife Kalpana Soren, and sister-in-law Sita Soren from the JMM. Key BJP leaders include former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto (JMM), AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto, and Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri.
