Andaman Islands region hit by 5.1 earthquake

Port Blair, May 1 (IBNS) An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale hit Andaman Islands region on Friday, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake  is located at latitide 11.2degrees north and longitude 91.7 degrees east,the India Meteorological Department  said.

It was felt at 14:845 hrs.

The IMD called the earthquake as 'moderate'.

No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far.
