Giriraj Singh again sparks row over communal terror remark

Patna, May 14 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Bihar Giriraj Singh, who had asked those who are against Modi to leave for Pakistan earlier, has again triggered a controversy by asking why all those arrested on terrorism charges in India are from one particular community.

Singh, who had to surrender in a Patna court in connection with his alleged hate speech earlier, said: "Is it not true that all those who are caught are from one particular community? Why are secular parties silent on this?"

He said some people are trying to stop Modi from becoming the PM and they are with terrorists and support Pakistan which does not want Modi to be PM of India.

Singh contested the election as the BJP's candidate from Nawada in Bihar.

Reacting to his remarks, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said this is the politics of BJP and those arrested for terror links are not from just one community. He said linking terrorism to religion is bad.

Giriraj Singh  was earlier given a bail by the court of a Judicial Magistrate  in Bihar after he furnished his bail bond over his previous remarks.

A non-bailable warrant was issued on Apr 23 against Singh for his alleged 'Pakistan' remark.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Apr 22 had banned Singh from campaigning in Bihar and Jharkhand after the BJP candidate triggered a controversy by saying that all opponents of the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be sent to Pakistan.

The commission has asked authorities in both the states not to allow his 'public meetings, public processions,  public rallies, road shows, etc., by the district administration authorities  of Bihar and Jharkhand'.
