Arrival of monsoon in India delayed
"Monsoon is likely to arrive on the mainland of India over Kerala around June 4-5," officials of the Indian Meteorological Department or IMD told NDTV.
"The wind pressures and speed had not become conducive for the Monsoon to advance over the Indian land mass, which is causing the delay," Dr BP Yadav, Chief Forecaster for IMD, told NDTV.
The IMD earlier this month had predicted that the Monsoon will arrive in India by May 30.
"The southwest monsoon is likely to set over Kerala on 30th May with a model error of ± 4 days," read a statement issued by the IMD earlier.
