Modi asks ex-Army men to be patient, promises solution to OROP
New Delhi, May 31 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday promised that his government will find a solution and implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) Scheme for the ex Army men on his monthly radio address 'Mann ki Baat.'
"You have been patient for 40 years, wait for some more time. I promise you we will hold discussions and resolve the issue," he said.
He said, "Is it not true that the issue has remained unresolved for 40 years? Every government before this one, talked about this, but did nothing."
"I am not talking as the Prime Minister, I wish to address our forces as a man, from the heart," he said.
Modi on Sunday commenced his 'Mann Ki Baat' address with grave concern over the loss of lives due to heat waves.
"As I speak, India is threatened by heat waves. I urge you all to take care of yourselves in this heat. At the same time, take care of the birds and animals around you as well," he said.
He congratulated the students on passing their board exams.
He said he has always wanted to work for the poor.
"We think of new initiatives, we take feedback on initiatives. Another thing that gives me a lot of joy is the Kisan TV Channel (launched a few days ago). Kisan TV channel is a channel where both the teacher and the student are farmers," he said.
