New Delhi, June 28 (IBNS) Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked people to post selfies of themselves with their daughters during his radio address 'Mann ki Baat', a hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter is trending top on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Narendra Modi on Sunday stayed away from the recent political controversies during his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' address, and focused on women related issues, while urging for their empowerment.

Speaking on an initiative started by a Sarpanch in a village in Haryana, PM Modi asked people to post selfies of themselves with their daughters on Twitter.

"I urge all of you, share a #SelfieWithDaughter," he said.

Referring to the Beti Bachao Beti Padao (Save the Girl Child, Educate Her) initiative, he also asked them to post stirring taglines to the post.
