2 Indians killed in Kuwait mosque attack

Kuwait City, June 28 (IBNS) India has confirmed that two Indians were killed in a suicide attack at a mosque in Kuwait on Friday.

The deceased Indians were identified as Rizwan Husain and Ibne Abbas.

Rizwan Husain worked as a watchman in the Mosque while Abbas was employed as a driver. Both belonged from north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

"The Embassy regrets to inform about the death of two Indian nationals in the bomb blast at Imam Sadiq Mosque, Kuwait on 26 June 2015. Both were taking part in the prayers when they died," read a statement issued by the Indian mission.

"Shri Rizwan Husain, DOB 29/6/1984, Passport No. H-0338720, date of issue 14/8/2008 from Lucknow, Resident of Village Walipur, PS Baldipur, District Sultanpur, UP, who was working as a watchman in the Mosque," it said.

"Shri Ibne Abbas, DOB 20/07/1989, passport No. M-1629683, date of issue 28/08/2014 from Lucknow, Resident of 151 Jafarabad, The. Jalalpur, Ambedkar Nagar, UP, who was working as driver," read the statement giving details of another Indian who was killed in the attack that left more than 20 people dead.

Meanwhile, Kuwait authorities have revealed the identity of the bomber who had attacked the mosque.

"The Ministry of Interior, in a statement, said the suicide bomber who blew himself up on Friday at Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Al-Sawaber district was a Saudi citizen, named Fahad Suleiman Abdulmohsen Al-Gabbaa," Kuwait Times reported.
