Varanasi, Jul 15 (IBNS) Heavy rains lashed Varanasi on Thursday morning ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled arrival in the afternoon on a day-long visit to his Lok Sabha constituency

Reports said at the  DLW ground, where PM Modi is scheduled to make a public address,  efforts are being made to pump out rain water.

Under the supervision of the PM's office special arrangements have been made to ensure that the PM's programme does not have to be cancelled as it was on June 28 because of heavy rain.

The PM will land at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Babatpur in a special plane at about 3 pm.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and  Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadavy will greet the  PM at the airport.
