Four militants, one para-trooper killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Sep 3 (IBNS) In a fierce gun- battle four militants and a para-trooper have been killed in Hafruda forest area of Northern Kupwara District.

The encounter  between militants and security forces started on Wednesday evening in the Vilgam area of Handwara, which is near a forest. The area has been cordoned off. 

Senior official told IBNS, four militants and one paratrooper were killed while three other army jawans injured  in the encounter.

“The whole area has been cordoned off, and more reinforcement has been rushed,” an army official told IBNS.

He further stated that operation is over and search operation is on in the nearby forests to flush out more militants believed to be hiding there.

On Wednesday, Reyaz Ahmad, top commander of Lasher-i-islam and a close aide of Qayoom Najar of the disbanded group of Hizbul Mujahideen was killed in an encounter with security forces in Ladoora area of Nothern Kashmir.

One army jawan also lost his life in the gunfight.     

Last week, three militants were killed and a foreign militant, Sajad Hussain, was captured alive after an encounter with security forces in northern forests.
