Our stand on Kashmir is a principled one: Pakistan

New Delhi, Sept 25 (IBNS) Pakistan's Ambassador to UN Maleeha Lodhi on Friday said he country's stand on the Kashmir issue is a 'principled' one.

"Our stand on Kashmir is a principled one and we remain committed to the right of self determination for the people of Kashmir," she tweeted.

According to reports, Lodhi, has written to the President of the UN Security Council, Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin where she has said that India is planning to  build a wall along the Line of Control.

"In a letter to the President of the Security Council for September, Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, Pakistani Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi said the 10 meter-high and 135 feet-wide wall would bring about a 'material change' in the situation on the ground, which, she said, was not allowed under the relevant Council resolutions," reported en.dailypakistan.com.pk.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not hold a bilateral meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the US.

"As of now there is nothing, no bilateral meeting on the schedule," media reports quoted  Vikas Swarup, Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs as saying.

Modi and and Sharif are staying in the same hotel in the city - the iconic Waldorf Astoria.

Earlier, speculations were rife that the PMs of both countries, staying in the same hotel, may get hold of a chance to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the programme they have come to attend.

"There will be no deliberate attempt. If a handshake happens, you will get to see it. If a pull aside happens, you will get to see it,"  Swarup told reporters.
