Burdwan blast: Senior Jamaat Ul Mujahideen Bangladesh leader arrested

New Delhi, Sept 29 (IBNS) A joint team of NIA and ATS of Jharkhand state police on Tuesday arrested a senior Jamaat Ul Mujahideen Bangladesh leader from the bordering area of Ranchi and Ramgarh district, officials said.

He has been identified as Sadik alias Sumon.

"Sadik was a key trainer in the terrorist training camps organised by JMB in India
and he used to report to Sajid @ Sk. Rahmatullah (since arrested in the case) of JMB about his activities. NIA had submitted a chargesheet against Sadik on 23rd July, 2015 as an absconder for his involvement in the terrorist conspiracy in NIA case no. RC- 03/2014/NIA/DLI. He had been absconding since the Burdwan blast on 2nd October, 2015 and carried a reward of Rs. 5 lacs declared by NIA for any information leading to his arrest," the NIA siad in a statement.

He shall be produced in NIA Special Court tomorrow and NIA shall seek custody
for his further examination, read the statement.

The Burdwan blast incident had taken place on Oct 2 last at Khagragarh area in Burdwan district when the explosion in a house led to the killing of two bomb makers and discovery of a cache of arms and ammunition.
