PM Narendra Modi remembers Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary

New Delhi, Oct 31 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday remembered former Indian PM Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.

"Tributes to former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary", the Prime Minister said.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Vice- President Rahul Gandhi,former PM Manmohan Singh and Vice President Hamid Ansari went to Indira Gandhi's memorial Shakti Sthal here to pay homage to the leader.

In 1984, Indira Gandhi was assassinated on this day by her guards.

Born in Nov 19, 1917, Gandhi is considered to be one of the most successful Prime Ministers of the country.

He father Jawaharlal Nehru is considered to be a pioneer figure in the political paradigm of the nation.

She served as the Prime Minister of India for three consecutive terms between 1966 to 1977 and a fourth term in 1980–1984.
