Kolkata: Taxis to go off roads for next 4 days

Kolkata, Oct 31 (IBNS): As several taxi operators unions and owners associations have called for taxi strike for different demands for four days- Dec 1 to Dec 4- in Kolkata, a huge number of taxis will be withdrawn from the city roads.

The trade wing of Indian National Congress (INC), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has called taxi strikes in Kolkata for two days which is going to be observed on Dec 1 (Sunday) and Dec 2 (Monday).

Agitating against several issues, taxi drivers under the leadership of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and few other organizations and few taxi owners organizations, including the Bengal Taxi Association (BTA), have called for another two-day long taxi strike in Kolkata which will be observed on Dec 3 (Tuesday) and Dec 4 (Wednesday).
