Saradha: Madan Mitra leaves hospital, returns home under house-arrest
After 324 days of captivity in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, Madan Mitra was granted conditional bail from Alipore Court on Oct 31.
As he was being treated in government owned Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) hospital for moths, Madan Mitra left SSKM hospital on Nov 1 and reached home with a 'fit' certificate.
On Nov 3, the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) moved to the Calcutta High Court, appealing the cancellation of lower court's judgement and Madan Mitra became 'unfit' suddenly and took admission again in Woodland Hospital with several health complaints.
A division bench comprising Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Mir Dara Sheko put Madan Mitra under house arrest until the next hearing, which has been scheduled on Nov 17.
Doctors said that Madan Mitra was well enough. "Except the lack of Vitamin-D, Madan Mitra does not have any other problem. His ECG report and blood pressure are normal. So, we decided to discharge him today. But he has to come here for routine check up at two to three-week intervals," one doctor of Woodland Hospital told IBNS.
However, Madan Mitra will stay in his own home at Bhawanipur area in Kolkata under 24 hours police and the CBI surveillance till Nov 17.
After a marathon questioning session, the CBI arrested Madan Mitra on Dec 12 last year for his alleged involvement in multi-crore Saradha financial scam.
