Parliament to witness fireworks over intolerance issue

New Delhi, Nov 30 (IBNS) Fireworks in Parliament are on cards as lawmakers will on Monday debate the rise in "intolerance" in the country with the opposition taking on the government on the issue.

At the end of the debate to be held following demands by the opposition parties, including the Congress, Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to give his reply.

In what came as a icebreaking move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached out to the Congress by inviting his predecessor Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi over tea to sort out differences over the Goods and Services Tax bill.

Though the meeting remained inconclusive, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that more such meetings would be arranged to come out of the political quagmire.

But Monday's Lok Sabha is expected to witness clashes between the  government and opposition over 'intolerance". Incidents like the killing of rationalists, mob attacks over cow slaughter and beef-eating rumours and controversial pronouncements by members of the ruling BJP may be raised in the House  as examples of growing intolerance under the current regime.
