New Delhi, Dec 21 (IBNS) Igniting a political battle, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday filed a Rs 10 crore civil defamation suit against Arvind Kejriwal and several other AAP leaders for implicating him in the irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Delhi's ruling AAP will also file a First Information Report or police complaint against Jaitley alleging forgery, corruption and loot of public money in the DDCA.

The row involves alleged financial irregularities in the DDCA which escalated  after a CBI raid on Kejriwal's top officer last week. AAP alleges that the CBI officers carried out the raid to search for DDCA files to help the Finance Minister, who was at the helm of DDCA when the corruption took place.

Minister Of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore told reporters:"The civil defamation suit has been filed as steps were taken to damage Mr. Jaitley's reputation. It is not acceptable."

In the Lok Sabha, Jaitley called all allegations made against him in connection  with the DDCA scam as 'baseless'.

"All the allegations made against me are baseless and false," Jaitley said.

The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 3 pm as Congress members continued to disrupt the proceedings of the House and demanded Jaitley's resignation over the scam.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal said the Delhi Cabinet has resolved to set up Commission of Enquiry on DDCA scam.

"Del Cabinet resolves to set up Commission of Enquiry on DDCA scam. Spl session of assembly tomo 2 discuss DDCA scam n CBI raids on Del Sectt," Kejriwal tweeted.
