DDCA probe panel chief seeks officers of CBI, Delhi Police
New Delhi, Dec 29 (IBNS) Former Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam, who has been appointed the chief of a probe into the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam, has sought officers from CBI and Delhi Police to carry out the investigation into the row that sucked into its vortex Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The probe chief has written to National Security Adviser seeking team of officers, according to media reports on Tuesday.
According to an NDTV report, in a letter to National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Subramaniam has asked for policemen and CBI investigators to form a Special Investigation Team to probe the DDCA scam.
"I wrote to Mr Doval, apart from his expertise, was that if there is any issue relating to security, I don't want by hindsight to feel that it was not addressed to him right in the beginning. It was more in his capacity of having been a person who has been aware of the entire police force. He is a competent person to advise the best people," Subramanian was quoted saying by the NDTV website.
While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has upped the ante targetting Jaitley, suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirti Azad is also vocal on the issue taking on his party.
Addressing the CBI, he said he has done all investigation while there is a move to stall the effort to root out corruption from sports.
Azad was suspended by BJP president Amit Shah for allegedly indulging in "anti-party" activities. The action followed Azad's repeated swipes at Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the alleged corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) which the latter headed for 13 years.
The Lok Sabha MP from Darbhanga in Bihar has been accusing DDCA officials of indulging in corruption. Even after his suspension Azad said that he will not surrender and continue to fight against corruption. "If speaking the truth is a crime, I will continue doing it. I will not surrender," he said.
