Centre to increase maternity leave in private sector
New Delhi, Dec 29 (IBNS) The Narendra Modi government is all set to increase maternity leave in the private sector from 12 to 26 weeks, according to reports.
This comes despite the Labour Ministry having expressed reservations about taking such a move, which it feels, will adversely affect the employability of women.
Women and Child Development minister Maneka Gandhi has said that a recent analysis of the Maternity Benefit Act showed that discrimination against pregnant women was widely prevalent in the corporate sector in India.
