Mulayam says UP ministers busy minting money

Lucknow, Jan 25 (IBNS) Expressing his concern over the UP ministers, President of the incumbent Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav said that half of the present state ministers are busy 'minting money', according to reports.

Addressing party workers on Sunday, The Indian Express quoted Mulayam as saying, "I had advised the ministers. Some mended their ways but some did not. If earning money is your priority, then you should rather do business. Even I would have helped you. In politics, people give you money on their own."

Mulayam who said that he was accused of being involved with several dacoit gangs, regaled the members with several anecdotes.

He said, "Some claimed that I had links with Chaviram gang, some claimed that I had links with Madho Singh and Phulan gang… Even dacoits at times do good work."

Recollecting his old days pertaining to the formation of the Samajwadi Party, the party President said, "I was alone and went ahead. The media reported that I was the leader of (only) three districts — Etawah, Farrukhabad and Mainpuri. But we formed government in 1993."

He also expressed his sadness over the death of 16 people who had died due to police firing in 1993 during the demolition of Babri Masjid.
