Bhubaneswar, Jan 26 (IBNS): When the entire country is under security blanket for the Republic Day, four suspects, who might have terror links, fled away from a hotel in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, minutes before a police raid, officials said.

According to police reports, at least four suspicious foreigners have entered Odisha's capital by a Ford Ikon car having a Delhi registration, which is said to be fake, and went to a hotel at near Bhubaneswar Railway Station (BBS). They reportedly escaped from the hotel when hotel authorities asked them to show their identification documents.

Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate, Rajendra Prasad Sharma told IBNS, "We received intelligence alert of a suspicious movement of some persons with a vehicle, bearing a fake Delhi registration number and a suspected terrorist attack in Bhubaneswar on or after the Republic Day. We have beefed up the security of the city and of our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as well."

"Today four suspected foreigners, seems to be Iraqi nationals, went to Arya Mahal hotel at Master Canteen area near Bhubaneswar railway station and the hotel authority asked them to provide their documents for identification during check-in. Thereafter they fled away from the hotel mysteriously, just before police team reached the hotel for raid. We have begun a search operations to find these men," he added.

However, staff of the hotel are being questioned and senior police officials are examining the CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
