Rajeev Kumar replaces Surajit Kar Purakayastha as Kolkata Police Commissioner

Kolkata, Jan 29 (IBNS): The Home Department of West Bengal government has appointed IPS officer Rajeev Kumar as the new Commissioner of Kolkata Police on Friday, reports said.
He had previously been posted as the ADG and IGP of WB Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
 
Another IPS officer, Soumen Mitra, who was the Special Commissioner (I) of Kolkata Police, is going to be the ADG and IGP of WB CID, according to reports.
 
Previous Kolkata CP Surajit Kar Purakayastha will be appointed as the Director General of WB Police (Crime), which post was abolished previously, sources said.
 
Meanwhile, Badana Varun Chandra Sekhar, who was the CO of Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR)'s 1st Battalion, is replacing Bharati Ghosh as the Superintendent of West Midnapore and Bharati Ghosh becomes the OSD of LWE (Operations in the rank of SP).
