Vohra asks Parrikar to increase compensation rates payable to people affected by field firing, artillery practices

Srinagar, Feb 7 (IBNS): In a letter to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra requested him to enhance compensation rates payable to those persons in Jammu And Kashmir who were affected by field firing and artillery practices.

“Vohra, has  pointed out that the land owners have been complaining about the poor rates of compensation and this also raises additional problems when the existing field firing ranges have to be re-notified, as for the Hiranagar Field Firing Range are concern,” an official spokesman said.

The Governor has pointed out that the rates of compensation were fixed 28 years ago, the spokesman said.
