Kolkata: Dunlop warehouse fire brought under control
According to reports, fire was first spotted around 11 a.m. As many as 25 fire tender engines, a heavy police force from Barrackpore Commissionerate and Disaster Management Group (DMG) rushed to the spot.
The director of West Bengal Fire Service, four divisional fire officers and senior officials of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, including Police Commissioner Niraj Kumar Singh, went to the place and oversaw the fire-fighting operation.
Nearly after seven hours, the blaze was brought under control.
As the warehouse is located at a very congested area and few residential buildings, apartments and a petrol pump are situated very close to it, the fire incident triggered scare.
Police evacuated all residential buildings nearby.
However, the cooling off process is currently underway and fire department have started investigation into the incident to know the exact reason of the fire.
According to fire service officials, the fire might have started due to short circuit.
However, no casualty has been reported so far in the incident.
