Jat students of Delhi University join the job quota stir
With the Jat agitation intensifying in Haryana, union finance minister Arun Jaitley, defence minister Manohar Parrikar and minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju held a meeting at home minister Rajnath Singh's residence, according to media reports.
Meanwhile, in Haryana, curfew has been imposed in five towns-- Sonipat, Gohana, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Jhajjar -- while the Army is conducting flag marches in various places.
Nearly 500 trains have been cancelled in the region, including the Rajdhani and Shatabdi which have been cancelled until Sunday noon.
Earlier, the protesters had set fire to the Budha Khera railway station in Haryana.
Reports on Saturday said several shops were looted while a mall was also torched while the Army personnel facing road blocks used choppers to enter the town.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal spoke to his counter part in Haryana and to Rajnath Singh so that the protest in Haryana did not affect the water supply to Delhi.
Kejriwal later tweeted "Spoke to Rajnath ji also and apprised him of grave situation. He has assured that army is being sent to munak canal."
