Cyber forgery with German people: 3 booked in Kolkata

Kolkata, Mar 23 (IBNS): West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday arrested three men in connection with a online forgery case in Kolkata, officials said.

According to reports, two directors of BPO company Kavish Infotech Pvt. Ltd.- Rohit Kayal and Rajat Kayal- and one staff of the company- Subrata Ganguly- were booked for cheating thousands of people of Germany and Denmark.

"They have been held for online fraud and on charges of cheating people of Germany and Denmark. Giving fake promise to provide online technical support, they looted as many as 50 crore rupees of few foreign organizations and of several individuals as well," a  senior CID official told IBNS.

An intelligence team of German Police, comprising at least five officers, and WB CID's officials on Mar 17 jointly conducted raid in Kavish Infotech's office at EM Block in Kolkata's Salt Lake Sector V area. The team also lodged complaint to the cyber crime department of Bidhannagar City Police, under several sections of Information Technology (IT) Act, against the BPO company and its officials.

The trio was produced in Bidhannagar Court on Wednesday and sent to 10-day CID custody.
