Kolkata flyover collapse : IVRCL Vice President arrested
Ranjit Bhattacharya, the associate vice-president of the construction company, who remained in a hospital since the March 31 disaster, was discharged on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning he was arrested and taken to the Kolkata Police headquarters at Lalbazar.
Twenty-six people were killed and about 90 injured after a long stretch of the under-construction Vivekananday flyover suddently collapsed on March 31 afternoon.
So far, eight officers of IVRCL have been arrested under IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) and others.
On Monday, investigators had arrested Project Manager Tanmoy Sil and conducted a thorough search of IVRCL's Beadon Street office during which they seized several documents.
