Bengaluru, Apr 15 (IBNS) A day after the Kerala High Court allowed fireworks for Thrissur Pooram festival with some restrictions, the decision to allow similar fire shows in Karnataka's Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple in Puttur will be taken on Friday, reports said.
District officials in Mangalore will meet  in the afternoon and the announcement in this regard will be made.

The temple administration has applied for permission with the Taluk assistant commissioner, following a review on fire safety ordered by the fire department.

They have promised to take precautionary measures - including barricades to maintain a distance between spectators and the display area - to avoid any untoward incidents.

The Puttur temple fest had drawn controversy in March when protests were seen over the inclusion of a Muslim deputy commissioner's name as one of the hosts inviting people to the fest.
