Mumbai, May 24 (IBNS) Indian markets, at the close of business on Tuesday, managed to climb up with the Sensex gaining 75.11 points to 25,305.47, and the Nifty moving up 17.80 points to 7,748.85, thus halting its four-day losing streak.

Investor interest in blue-ship stocks and positive global sentiments led to the upbeat mood.

Some of the leading gainers on Tuesday were NTPC, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Asian Paints while Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, TCS, GAIL and BHEL saw a decline.

The market has pinned its hopes on the news of a good monsoon this year.

Private weather-forecast agency Skymet, on Tuesday said that it is raising its monsoon forecast for India to 109 per cent of the long period average from 105 per cent as El Nino appears to be waning. The revised forecast has an error margin of +/- 4%, said the agency.
