New Delhi, Jun 5 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday, greeted the people of Sweden on the eve of their national day on Monday, Jun 6.

In a message to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, the President said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with great pleasure that I extend warm greeting and felicitations to Your Majesty and the people of the Kingdom of Sweden on the occasion of your National Day."

Mukherjee said, "I cherish warm memories of the gracious reception and unstinted hospitality extended to me by Your Majesty and Her Majesty Queen Silvia during my State Visit to Sweden in 2015."

He said: "I am happy to note that the relations between our two countries, underpinned by our common and unwavering commitment to democratic values, have been further strengthened since my visit. We appreciated very much the visit of the delegation led by the Prime Minister of Sweden, Mr. Stefan Löfven to India for the ‘Make in India Week’ in Mumbai in February this year. I have no doubt that India-Sweden cooperation will continue to grow in depth and scope in a manner which would benefit both our peoples. I take this opportunity to convey my best wishes for Your Majesty’s good health and well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Kingdom of Sweden”.
