New Delhi, June 15 (IBNS) Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will hold a high level meeting on Wednesday on spiralling prices of food, that have catapulted wholesale inflation to 19-month high, reports said.
Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari,  Ram Vilas Paswan, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, besides top officials are expected to attend the meeting.

The Wholesale Price Index or WPI data released on Tuesday showed that vegetable inflation rose sharply from 2.21 per cent in April to 12.94 per cent the next month.

Prices of vegetables, pulses and oil have shot up abnormally spelling distress for the common people.

NDTV has quoted its sources as saying that the meeting will take stock of progress made in pulse imports, discuss the creation of a buffer stock and lifting of stock by state governments for retail distribution at subsidised rates.

The ministers and officials will also discuss import and export duties on sugar, wheat and edible oils.
