PM Modi lauds Maharashtra govt., urges people to join in the plantation drive

New Delhi, Jul 1 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the Maharashtra government for its initiative to plant two crore saplings and urged people to join in the plantation drive.

"Excellent initiative by the Maharashtra Government, of planting 2 crore trees in one day. Urge everyone in Maharashtra to support & join," PM Modi tweeted.

The plan was conceived by Maharashtra government's Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and received support from chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and screen legend Amitabh Bachchan.

"Thank You @SMungantiwar bhau for the invite for the grand & historic tree plantation movement in Maharashtra!" Fadnavis tweeted.

"As this tree plantation is 1of our steps towards preventing drought,it is my sincere appeal to every citizen to plant&nurture 1tree at least," the CM tweetd.

Extending his support towards the initiative, Bachchan tweeted, "T 2303 -Maharastra government to plant 2 crore trees in a single day.
@CMOmaharashtra and @mahadgipr .. support this noble cause ..!!"
