FM Jaitley meets top Congress leaders over GST Bill

New Delhi, July 28 (IBNS) : Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday met top Congress leaders in a bid to reach a consensus on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Reports said Jaitley r met Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma and P Chidambaram.

Media reports quoted Congress sources as saying that the discussions over the GST Bill is going in a right direction.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet had cleared changes in the GST Constitutional Amendment Bill, dropping 1 percent manufacturing tax and providing guarantee to compensate states for any revenue loss in the first five years of rollout of the proposed indirect tax regime. is

The changed GST Bill is expected to come up in the Rajya Sabha by next week.
