Former Arunachal Pradesh CM's suicide : Angry mob attacks residences of CM, Deputy CM

Itanagar, Aug 9 (IBNS) : Tension gripped Itangar after former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul allegedly committed suicide, as an angry mob attacked the official residences of Chief Minister Prema Khandu and his deputy Chowna Mein in Itanagar on Tuesday.

Several policemen and officials of the state Government have been injured in clashes with the protesters, reports said without giving further details.


Pul, was found dead at his official residence in Itanagar on Tuesday morning. Last month, he had to step down as  Chief Minister of the state following a Supreme Court order that removed his Government and put back the Congress in power.

Pul was with the Congress till late 2015 when he rebelled along with a number of legislators against then chief minister Nabam Tuki. He became Chief Minister in February with BJP backing.However, the .Supreme Court ordered that the appointment was illegal.
