People wanted me to become a martyr, remain a demi-god, says Irom Sharmila
Irom told CNN-News18 in an interview that many activists in her state wanted her to remain a "demi-god" but she wanted to be seen as a normal human being.
"I think they want a person totally different from a woman like me. I am a simple woman who likes peace and dignity as a social will and bring a change. But people want me to be a martyr for a cause," she said.
Sharmila told CNN-News 18 that her fight against AFSPA would continue as she wanted "a clean democracy in Manipur".
She also accused the Centre of being prejudiced against people of the state "because we look different and eat different things."
