Opposition delegation from Kashmir meets President Pranab Mukherjee over situation in the valley
The 20-member delegation is led by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The delegation includes JKPCC president G A Mir, CPI(M) State secretary and MLA MY Tarigami, PDF chairman and MLA Hakeem Yaseen, AIP chief and MLA Abdul Rashid, and former minister and DNP chief Ghulam Hassan Mir.
The decision to meet the President was taken at a meeting of the National Conference, Congress, Communist Party, Democratic Party Front, Awami Ittehad Party and People's Democratic Front on Wednesday.
Kashmir has been in a turmoil for about one-and-a-half month with regular incidents of clashes between the local people and security forces taking place and a marathon curfew running all over disrupting normal life.
About 65 people have so far died in clashes with security forces.
