Bangalore: Railway recruitment racket busted, 15 arrested

Bangalore, June 29 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday said it has arrested 15 people as it busted a railway recruitment racket here.

The CBI said  a Chief Vigilance Inspector of South Western Railway and 14-others including 13-candidates and one advocate have been arrested.

"The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Chief Vigilance Inspector of South Western Railway, Bangalore and 14-others including 13-candidates & one advocate who acted as middleman in an alleged leakage of question papers & answer keys of Railway Recruitment Board examination for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot, Telecommunication Gr.III, Technician Gr.III etc," the CBI said in a statement.

"A case was registered on 29.06.14 u/s.120-B r/w 420 IPC and u/s.7, 8 and 13(2) r/w 13(12)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against, Divisional Personnel Officer, South Western Railway, Bangalore; Chief Vigilance Inspector, South Western Railway, Bangalore; an Advocate ; one Private Person and other unknown public servants & private persons in connection with alleged leakage of question papers and answer keys of Railway Recruitment Board examination for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot, Telecommunication Gr.III, Technician Gr.III etc scheduled on 29.06.2014," it said.

The CBI said: "Searches were today conducted at the premises of accused and other locations. Certain cash and other incriminating documents were recovered . The Divisional Personnel Officer is absconding."

It said all the arrested accused persons will be produced before the jurisdictional court on Monday.
