US Secretary of State John Kerry meets Union Minister Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi, Aug 30 (IBNS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her counterpart U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday at the India-US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue n New Delhi.

At the plenary session, the Union Minister said, "We began our engagement this afternoon with separate meetings between the Foreign and Commerce Ministers of the two sides. I had good discussion with Secretary Kerry covering key bilateral and regional issues."

Secretary of State John Kerry said that India and US have deepened their cooperation in defence, energy and cyber security and that the US is looking forward to finalis a cber framework that will help both countries to counter the increasing global cyber threats.

Earlier, John Kerry had tweeted, "Impressive amount to cover at US-#India Strategic & Commercial Dialogue- a testament to depth of this relationship."

Talking about civil nuclear co-operation, Kerry said, "We hope to see our civil nuclear co-operation take shape in form of new reactors that deliver reliable electricity to Indian households."

On Tuesday, the second S&CD Plenary was led from the Indian side by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman while the US delegation was led by Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Commerce and Penny Pritzker.
