AAP calls for special Assemby session on September 9

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IBNS):The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for a special Assembly session on Sep 9 to discuss the Delhi affairs, according to media reports.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the party had to face a lot of criticism on Thursday following the sacking of the Delhi government's social welfare minister Sandeep Kumar on charges of alleged misdemeanour.

Members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Thursday, gathered in front of the Delhi CM's house and protested against the sacked minister, demanding his expulsion from the party.

In a televised address on Thursday, according to The Indian Express, Kejriwal said he was “saddened” by the incident but also felt “proud” that his party took immediate action and “did not try to put a veil on it or defend the accused, unlike what other political parties do.”

He said no other party has the guts to take such action against its own leaders, while the AAP has been harsh with four of its leaders to take stringent action against them..

"You see, no action has been taken against Shivraj Singh Chauhan [Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister] for the Vyapam scam, which involves many people's death," he said.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal had tweeted, "Recd 'objectionable' CD of minister Sandeep Kr. AAP stands for propriety in public life. That can't be compromised."

"Removing him from Cabinet wid immediate effect," he said.

According to media reports, the CD submitted to Kejriwal purportedly showed Sandeep Kumar in a compromising position with two women.

The Sandeep Kumar scandal surfaced barely a week after AAP's Punjab chief Suchcha Singh Chhotepur was sacked following a sting operation that showed him taking bribes in lieu of granting party tickets for the upcoming Assembly elections.
