Writer in-residence Ranjan Banerjee calls on President

New Delhi, Sept 6 (IBNS): Ranjan Banerjee, eminent ‘Writer In-Residence’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan called on the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee today (September 6, 2016). Prof. Banerjee has been staying at Rashtrapati Bhavan as ‘Writer In-Residence’ from September 1 to 7, 2016.

Ranjan Banerjee is a creative writer in Bengali, who has written at least 30 books and also writes for leading Bengali Daily, Sangbad Pratidin.

He is a Professor of English literature who mostly writes on Rabindranath Tagore and 19th century Renaissance of Bengal. He has also written best selling fiction.

The ‘In-Residence’ programme in Rashtrapati Bhavan was launched by the President of India on Dec 11, 2013 with the aim of providing writers and artists an opportunity to stay in Rashtrapati Bhavan and be a part of the life of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
