Patna, Sep 7 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A love-struck woman in Bihar allegedly threw her two daughters into a flooded river before fleeing with her lover though the girls were saved by fishermen, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place near Chandpura village in Begusarai district on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the woman, wife of Suresh Shrama from Rachiyahi village under Matihani police station, reached the bank of Budi Gnadak river with her two daughters aged four and two years, and threw them in the turbulent river before fleeing with her lover on a bike.

Reports said  hearing the sound of something being thrown into the river, the local fishermen rushed in that direction and saved both the girls.

The girls were handed over to their parents after being administered first aid at a local hospital.

The woman was currently staying with her parents at Sisauni village after her in-law’s house came in the grip of flood. It was during her stay with her parents that she fell in love with a local youth.

“We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” a local police official.
