Police arrested five NDFB(S) militants in Assam

Guwahati, Sept 08 (IBNS) Assam police arrested five militants of NDFB(S) from different areas of Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Assam police ADGP Dr LR Bisnoi said that acting on a specific information that some NDFB(S) cadres are carrying out massive extortion drive in Chirang and transferring money to their camps at Myanmar, yesterday at about 5 PM, one NDFB(S) cadre, namely, Daukha Narzary @ Dopthai was picked up at Sundari under Sidli police station in Chirang district.

"Following his interrogation and revelation, at about 7 PM, two of his linkmen, namely, Kwmtha Basumatary and Swrangsar Basumatary were apprehended from Rangsaidam, Gossaigaon under Basugaon police station and Rs. 40,000 cash was recovered from their possession," Additional Director General of Police L.R. Bishnoi Bisnoi said.

"Further interrogation revealed the names of more accomplices and thereafter multiple raids were conducted at various locations and on Thursday at about 10:30 AM, one linkman of NDFB(S), namely Bhim Basumatary was apprehended from Khungring under Runikhata police station and another linkman, namely, Jwngdao Basumatary was apprehended from Kashikotra under Sidli police station at about 1:30 PM," the senior official said.

Detailed interrogation followed and at about 3 PM the said NDFB(S) cadre and his four linkmen were arrested as sufficient evidences have been found against them in committing extortion under the banner of NDFB(S) outfit and transferring money to the outfit based at Myanmar.
