Patna, Sept 14 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday appealed to the masse to give their focus on imparting education to the daughters than boys.

“Today our daughters are marching ahead in every sphere of life…It’s our daughters who win Olympic medals for the country,” Das told a function in Dumka town of Jharkhand.

He claimed daughters had never ditched their parents.

“A son can ditch his parents but daughters can’t. So let them study whatever she wants,” the CM said.

The CM further warned the people against dropping their daughters out of institutions due to financial crisis saying the state government was always there to help them.

“Just call us at 181 if you find your financial problem is coming in the way of your daughters’ study. The state government will provide you financial support,” he assured.

He also asked the people not to marry girls against their wishes. “Pahale padhai, phir vidai (Impart them proper education before marriage),” he suggested.

Jharkhand’s literacy rate is currently 66.41 percent. Of them, male literacy stands at 76.84 whereas female literacy is only 52.04—much less than males.
