Chennai metro rail:Airport to Little Mount route inaugurated

Chennai, Sep 21 (IBNS): The second stage of the Chennai Metro Rail, from the airport to Little Mount was inaugurated on Wednesday, according to media reports.

M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, Information & Broadcasting and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa were present at the inauguration.

The Union minister flagged off the train at the Chennai Airport Metro Station.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan was also present.

Tweeted Naidu on Wednesday, "With opening of LittleMount to ChennaiAirport metro 19 OutOf 45km phase1Will be operational,will increase  PublicTransport access 2 citizens."

Union minister Naidu said, "Travel in Metro,Its more eco-friendly,  safer,congestion easing,no delays, saves time,pleasent and less stressful way to travel."
