Something must have been wrong: Manohar Parrikar on Uri attack

New Delhi, Sept 21 (IBNS): Stating that 'something had gone wrong', Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said steps will be taken that incidents like Uri do not occur again.

The Defence Minister was quoted as saying by media: "Obviously something must have been wrong."

"I will not go into details of it," he said.

"Obviously it's a very sensitive matter. When something goes wrong, while you try to correct it you should also ensure it does not happen again," he said.

Parrikar said: "We will definitely find out what went wrong and also takes steps to ensure it doesn't go wrong."

Militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri town had left 18 soldiers martyred.

Four terrorists, believed to have crossed the border from Pakistan, sneaked into the Army camp located near the LoC in Uri and launched the attack on Sunday.

The incident took place when most of the soldiers were asleep.

India has blamed Pakistan for the attack.
