Susan E. Rice calls Doval, condemns Uri terror attack

Washington, Sept 28 (IBNS): Condemning the Uri attacks , which left 18 soldiers martyred, US National Security Advisor (NSA) Susan E. Rice told her Indian counterpart Ajit Doval that her nation expects Pakistan to take effective action to combat and delegitimize United Nations-designated terrorist individuals and entities.

Susan E. Rice spoke on Thursday by phone with Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

"Ambassador Rice strongly condemned the September 18 cross-border attack on the Indian Army Brigade headquarters in Uri and offered condolences to the victims and their families," a statement issued by National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price.

"Ambassador Rice affirmed President Obama’s commitment to redouble our efforts to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorism throughout the world," read the statement.

"Highlighting the danger that cross-border terrorism poses to the region, Ambassador Rice reiterated our expectation that Pakistan take effective action to combat and delegitimize United Nations-designated terrorist individuals and entities, including Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, and their affiliates," it said.

"In the context of the robust U.S.-India partnership, Ambassador Rice discussed our shared commitment with India to pursuing peace and regional stability and pledged to deepen collaboration on counterterrorism matters including on UN terrorist designations," read the statement.   

India witnessed a major militant attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri town on Sept 18 which left 18 soldiers martyred.

India has also launched a campaign against Pakistan at the United Nations' platforms for aiding and abetting terrorism.
