Lucknow, Oct 10 (IBNS) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday backed Rahul Gandhi’s ‘khoon ki dalali’ comment aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Congress Vice-President must have had his reasons.

"If he has said something, he must have given it much thought. He must have some information about it," media reports quoted Akhilesh Yadav as saying.

He said he had cordial relations with Rahul even though the Congress is a political rival of the Samajwadi Party.

After the Indian Army's surgical strikes across the LoC to destroy terrorist launch pads, Rahul Gandhi  remarked that the Modi government was trying to benefit fro  from the blood of the soldiers.

Giving a rebuff, the BJP accused him of insulting the armed forces.

However, Rahul and his party maintained that they supported the military action but were against the  "political propaganda" on the issue.

Akhilesh Yadav on Monday also mocked Modi for his decision to celebrate Vijayadashmi in Lucknow.

"Had there been elections in Bihar, he would have slayed Ravan there,” Akhilesh said.

"There should be no politics over festivals. He is coming to Lucknow, he will give something big to us. We have expectations from him for progress of the state," he said.
