Pampore attack enters second day, police resumes operation

Pampore, Oct 11 (IBNS): The security forces on Tuesday morning resumed operation to flush out hiding militants inside a government building near Pampore town of Kashmir's Pulwama district.

On Monday morning, two forces personnel and a policeman were injured as the militants fired from inside the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Institute (JKEDI) on the forces.

“Operation was called off on Monday evening because of darkness. Floodlights were used during the night to ensure that the militants were barred from escaping under the cover of darkness," said a senior police official.

On Tuesday morning, security forces used Rockets and IEDS to engage the militants.

In February, earlier this year, the same building came under militant attack which lasted for 48 hours, resulting in the death of three Para commandos and three militants.

The 70-room, seven-storey building is located at Pampore, on the banks of the river Jhelum and 12 km away from the Srinagar city centre.
