Chennai, Oct 11 (IBNS): With the Chief Minister undergoing treatment at a hospital here, the portfolios that were looked after by J Jayalalaithaa in the government has been allocated to Tamil Nadu Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam.

Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao made the allocations on Tuesday.

The AIADMK tweeted: "Portfolios looked after by Honourable Amma have been allocated to Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam on the advice of Puratchi Thalaivi Amma."

The party said Jayalalaithaa will continue to serve as the Chief Minister of the south Indian state.

"Puratchi Thalaivi Amma will continue to be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu," the party said.

Jayalalithaa was admitted to a hospital on Sept  22 with fever and respiratory problems.

Jayalalithaa's health condition gave rise to high speculations primarily because of lack of proper information flow.

The opposition demanded that the present photograph of Jaylalithaa be released to shoot down rumours and the  ruling AIADMK name a stand-in person to officiate duringJayalalithaa's absence.

The Madras High Court has, however, rejected both the demands when a petitioner made similar plea.

Meanwhile, the AIADMK has launched a social media campaign to dispel all rumours over the CM's health condition.
